Nick Flynn wants to become a writer yet he cant seem to obtain a firm grip on the life. Things get worse for the young man when he or she is reacquainted with the papa who abandoned him rice. It is especially tough given it is at the abandoned shelter Nick works in where his long lost dad arrives buying a place to sleep. The reunion sets the personal life back some steps. He soon finds comfort in recklessness, drugs and alcohol. Will he follow with his fathers footsteps or will he figure out how to make his own course? And will father and son ever find a common bond and finally replace with some lost time?

BEING FLYNN is an outstanding film simple as that will. Based on the interesting memoirs of author Nick Flynn, “Another Bullsh*t Night within Suck City, ” there is much to love within the film adaptation. This is a near perfect portrait of the father and the child he abandoned. Yet it is also a challenging take on humanity and how far we can get lost in this big, ugly world. As heartbreaking and challenging to be FLYNN is – the books title would have been more appropriate with the film – theres also a light that finds expect the hopeless. For some, falling into a volitile manner may be their just chance for true solution.

Paul Dano is Nick Flynn. He is a kid who is not wholly trustworthy and contains an unclear view associated with his future. He is an author who cant seem to spotlight his words as hes seemingly distracted by daily living. When his long misplaced father Jonathan (Robert De Niro) occurs at his new apartment, he has a brief glimpse with the man who abandoned him. While it most assuredly holds a positive change, it is not the past time he would discover dear old dad. At the suggestion of any new girl named Denise (Olivia Thrilby) which he is currently seeing, Nick begins working at a homeless shelter. Soon after starting their job, his dad shows up looking for a place to stay.

Written and directed by Paul Weitz, the filmmaker expands for the heartfelt emotion that he conjured in his 2002 feature OF A BOY. Yet in FLYNN, he has the challenging task of having you to feel a thing for these flawed heroes. Both Nick and Jonathan have moments that will test the audiences empathy, especially with the pops. The man is racist, homophobic, and he seems to resent almost just about everything in the world that will surrounds him. Yet thanks to Weitz wonderful script, he gives Mr. De Niro an opportunity to not simply play the stereotype of your wounded poet. It certainly helps of which Jonathan Flynn seems to have many of the same quirks that Travis Bickle received in TAXI DRIVER in 1976, both are fascinating characters although Jonathan is really a tad less volatile in comparison with his predecessor.

Thankfully Dano and De Niro usually are phenomenal together. This is certainly work best for every one of these fine actors, which is especially outstanding considering De Niros resume. If you couldnt assume that these two have in which father and son connect.
